Rottweiler's!!
Description:
The ideal Rottweiler is a medium large, robust and powerful dog, black with clearly defined rust markings. His compact and substantial build denotes great strength, agility and endurance. Male rottweilers are characteristically more massive throughout with larger frame and heavier bone than bitches. Bitches are distinctly feminine, but without weakness of substance or structure.
Breed Type: Working

Weight: 85 to 135 lbs for Males, 80 to 100 lbs for Females
Height: 24 to 27 inches for Males, 22 to 25 inches for Females
Coat type: Short, thick and coarse outer coat and thick undercoat. There are some long haired varieties too but the experts do not consider them desirable.
Color: Rottweiler dog is available in black color with tan or brown markings. Ones with white chest marking should not be considered.
Nature: Bold and protective, Rottweiler dogs are good guardians. They are intelligent, friendly, devoted and very loyal but tend to remain aloof. They have served as hardworking drovers in the past. This breed is brave, obedient, watchful and strong and does not hesitate to risk its life for the safety of its family. Proper socialization makes Rottweilers good playmates for children and even cats and other household pets. However, negative experiences at an early age may make them aggressive. Since they are naturally domineering, they need consistent training with calm and fair handling.
Grooming: Besides cleaning the ears and trimming their claws from time to time, Rottweilers need grooming when they are shedding. Use a rubber glove to remove dead and loose hair from the coat of the Rottweiler dog at the time.
Exercise: Rottweilers love swimming, playing catch with a ball and running free in the country and need plenty of exercise too. They do not wander away from the family, so that should ease the mind of the owners. They love to indulge in all outdoor sports with their owners.
Rottweiler History!
The breed is an ancient one and its history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One of the routes the army traveled was through Wüberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. This region eventually became an important cattle area and the descendants of the Roman cattle dogs proved their worth in both droving and protecting the cattlemen from robbers. It would be a brave villain who would try and remove the purse around the neck of a Rottweiler Metzgershund (Butcher's Dog of Rottweil). However, by the end of the 18th Century the breed had declined so much that in 1900 there was only one female to be found in the town of Rottweil. But the build up to the First World War saw a great demand for "police dogs" and that led to a revival in interest for the Rottweiler. Its enormous strength, its intelligence, and its ability to take orders made it a natural weapon of war. From that time it has become popular with dog owners and in 1935 the breed was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club. In 1936 Rottweilers were exhibited in Britain at Crufts. In 1966 a separate register was opened for the breed. Rottweilers are not naturally without tails. Many owners decide to have the tails removed soon after the puppies' birth. In recent years, the breed has received a lot of bad press. Unscrupulous breeders have produced dogs with highly aggressive tendencies and some owners have used the dogs to boost their macho images. A well-trained and responsive "Rottie" can provide the right owner with a great deal of exercise and loving companionship.

Did You know??
- The Rottweiler is one of the descendent's of Roman drover dogs.
- About 700 AD the local Duke of Arae Flaviae (what is now Southern Germany) ordered a Christian church built on the site of the former Roman baths. Excavations unearthed the red tiles of Roman villas; to distinguish the town, it was then named das Rote Wil (the red tile), which is of course recognizable as the derivation of the present Rottweil.
- As the town increased in prosperity during the uproar of industry, the Rottweiler, called the Rottweil Metzgerhund (butcher dog), decreased considerably in popularity.
- Eventually, in the early 20th century, the reinvigorated Rottweiler reemerged as a police dog.
- The Rottweiler was admitted to the AKC Stud Book in 1931.
- The Rottweiler parent club was founded in 1971.
